We’re excited to launch this new site with an expanded mission for us here at TechReckoning today. We’re also very excited to launch a new program that we hope is going to help all technology vendors raise the bar in the industry and be more effective as they work with their communities and influencers.
When we started TechReckoning in 2014, I had a notion that combining community with consulting was going to be the key that would make both parts work better. We look at community as assembling an audience and starting conversations within that audience; for us that’s a community of engaged technology professionals looking to the future. The consulting practice then is helping tech vendors respectfully and insightful educate and engage with these audiences.
Today we’re defining the difference between those two sides of what we do a little bit more. We’re launching TechReckoning Studio, which is a community media and influencer marketing consultancy, as well as our snazzy new website and blog. I expect to have some opinions and even some research to share here. Sign up to get updates via email from the studio about influencer marketing, content marketing, and marketing in the technology space. We’ve
We’re also excited to launch a new program for marketing professionals in the tech space, the Influencer Marketing Council. This is a private peer innovation council for those of us working in B2B and enterprise technology with influencers, advocates, and communities.. Our TechReckoning consulting engagements have been impactful, but we wanted a way to work with practitioners 365 days year rather than within the confines of a project or campaign. The environment is changing so fast and our specialized area of B2B tech has amazing opportunities but also nuances not always appreciated by consumer or non-professional brands. We feel that a peer council where we can get answers, share experiences, and support each other is by far the best way for us all succeed and push our programs further. For more information, check out influencermarketingcouncil.com. We are now reviewing our slate of founding members — and offering them special pricing — so please inquire if this sounds like it would be a fit for you and your team.
We’re also expanding our small but experienced TechReckoning Studio team. After working as a solo consultant for many years, this year I convinced my wife, Kathleen Nelson Troyer, to join the team and take over as CEO and to manage our client services and operations. Earlier this year, Amy White joined the team as a senior program manager, and now we’re very pleased to welcome Hope Abe to the team in a similar role. Both Amy and Hope have deep enterprise experience and can bring strategic insight and a get-it-done attitude to our clients. I call myself Chief Reckoner, which includes consulting with our clients, writing and analysis, and working on new products and services.
We’re so grateful to our clients over this first two and a half years of TechReckoning. We’ve had a lot of fun working on influencer marketing, social, and community projects for clients such as Ravello Systems (now part of Oracle), Illumio, Cohesity, Zerto, Docker, and more. (full list) We’re seeing an increasing interest and acknowledgement that personal, ethical, high-touch community and influencer marketing can increase reach, engagement, and customer retention. We’re always happy to jump on the phone to discuss these emerging methodologies and how you can get your arms around these kinds of programs.
The community, media, and event side of the TechReckoning house also has been fun and engaging, with bespoke projects in podcasting and newsletters for companies like Nutanix and Mayfield. We held our first community conference, The Reckoning 2015, which was an amazing way to bring a set of professionals together around community and career. We’ve also published own media platforms like the TechReckoning Dispatch newsletter, various podcasts, and the feed of tech articles we curate on the TechReckoning social media feeds. Expect a lot more to come as we have new media projects in development and some exciting plans for techreckoning.com.
